This interactive course supports participants to build emotional intelligence and resilience. It focuses on understanding stress, developing emotional intelligence, and improving communication under pressure. Participants explore how physiological and psychological responses affect behaviour and relationships at work - learning how to move from reactive to responsive, and leaving with tools to strengthen personal wellbeing, self-regulation, and communication even in challenging situations. 

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand the physiology of stress and how the fight, flight or freeze response impacts behaviour and communication 

  • Recognise early signs of stress and dysregulation in themselves and others 

  • Apply emotional intelligence and self-regulation strategies to maintain effective communication 

  • Differentiate between discomfort and genuine threat, choosing proportionate responses 

  • Use practical tools and models to manage pressure and hold difficult conversations 

Course Content

  • The Power of Choice: responding vs reacting; ownership and accountability 

  • Emotional Intelligence: recognising and managing emotions effectively 

  • Communication Under Pressure: using the BRAVE model for challenging conversations 

  • Practical tools: Circles of Control, Pause Technique and self-regulation exercises 

  • Action planning: creating personalised wellbeing and communication strategies 


What to expect:

Highly interactive, using presentation, discussion, case studies and group activities. Participants engage in reflective practice, experiential exercises and real-world applications. A workbook supports learning and personal reflection throughout the day. Available in-person or online.
