The one about Safeguarding….
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Is this actually a safeguarding concern?” - you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common challenges teams face. The answer often lies in a small but important distinction between everyday duty of care and statutory Safeguarding. In this blog, I break it down simply, including the 3-point rule to help you feel more confident in making the right call.
5th Birthday
This month marks five years since I started my business - something only around 40% of small businesses reach. There was no master plan, no savings cushion, and no one else paying the mortgage. What kept me going was resilience, a high tolerance for risk, deep autonomy, and an unwavering commitment to my values. Five years on, what it really represents isn’t just survival - it’s freedom, growth, courage, and the decision to keep choosing this path again and again.
Gentle January: A 28 Day Gratitude Activation
Missing routine during Twixtmas? Instead of diving into resolutions and self-improvement, what if you started the year by counting your blessings? Gentle January is a 28-day gratitude challenge rooted in neuroscience, designed to strengthen positive neural pathways through simple daily practices and weekly live calls. No pressure. No “new year, new you.” Just a powerful, gentle reset to help you begin 2026 feeling grounded, grateful, and already enough.
I Tested the LinkedIn Algorithm…
In October, I ran my own LinkedIn experiment. I posted every day, ignored the so-called algorithm rules, and tested different formats to see what would actually happen. The results? Polls and personal posts soared. Polished content and free value flopped. But the biggest insight wasn’t about reach or impressions - it was about relationships. Because in the end, the real ROI on LinkedIn doesn’t come from a single viral post. It comes from the network you build over time.
Your Brain Has Two Rooms
What if your brain had just two rooms - a calm living room and a steel-walled panic room? When stress hits, we’re quickly ushered into survival mode, where logic shrinks and creativity disappears. The problem isn’t visiting the panic room; it’s getting stuck there. In this post, I explore how to recognise the early signs of dysregulation and share simple, practical ways to help yourself (and your team) step back into a space where growth, connection and clear thinking are possible.
Work Life Balance
After being unwell for several weeks and juggling a full schedule of training, consultancy, and retreat planning, I was reminded of something I often tell my clients: balance isn’t about keeping everything equal. Life moves in seasons. Some are intense; others invite rest. Instead of chasing perfect balance, what if we aimed for harmony - adjusting, resetting, and giving ourselves permission to put a few things down? Here are a few simple reflection questions to help you rebalance in a way that actually feels sustainable.
How do you handle challenges?
When my son collected his GCSE results in the UK, he was proud of his achievements - but devastated they weren’t quite enough for his first-choice sixth form. Watching him navigate disappointment reminded me of something I wish I’d learned at 16: exam results don’t measure your intelligence or your worth. And neither do missed promotions, rejected applications, or workplace setbacks. Here are the lessons I shared with him - and why they matter just as much in our careers as they do in school.
Humans in the Workplace
After glamping at Port Lympne Safari Reserve, I found myself thinking about stimulation - not just for animals in enclosures, but for us in the workplace. When work becomes repetitive and uninspiring, it can drain our energy and motivation. But when we feel challenged and curious, everything shifts. If you’ve slipped into autopilot at work, here are some powerful questions to help you rediscover your spark and take purposeful steps forward.
Respond or React?
I explore what we really mean when we say we feel “triggered” at work. Drawing on my resilience training experience, I unpack the difference between a genuine trauma response and a stress reaction to feedback or accountability - and why learning to pause, reflect and respond (rather than react) matters for healthier workplace cultures.
“I trust there is a plan far greater than mine”
I open up about living with anxiety while navigating the uncertainty of self-employment and single parenthood. Reflecting on insights from Priory Group and Deloitte, I acknowledge the real impact of poor mental health - and remind myself to trust that there is a plan far greater than my own.
A New Chapter Unfolds
When I read the Burnout Report 2025 by Mental Health UK, I was stunned. 91% of UK adults experienced high or extreme stress last year. One in five workers needed time off for stress-related mental health - yet most didn’t take it. Young people are feeling the strain even more acutely, and fewer feel safe speaking up.
This isn’t just a wellbeing issue. It’s a leadership issue.
If we want different outcomes, we need visible, preventative strategies - not crisis management. From training managers to normalising conversations about pressure, here’s where real change begins.
As a society, we’ve moved on… but not really.
It’s been five years since the world shut down - and we’re supposed to have moved on. But many of us haven’t. Behind the resilience and the return to “normal” lies unprocessed grief, burnout, and trauma that was never given space to breathe. From frontline leadership in London’s homelessness services to the quiet toll on our nervous systems, this is a reflection on what we carried, what we lost, and why it’s not too late to start talking about it.
Is the end of Workplace Learning in sight?
Is workplace learning quietly slipping down the priority list? After delivering training sessions with shockingly low attendance, I’ve been reflecting on what’s really happening in organisations. From burnout and budget pressures to culture and leadership, a complex mix of factors is eroding engagement in L&D. But the true cost of disengagement may be far greater than we realise.
Gong Xi Fa Cai!
This Lunar New Year, I’m rethinking what it really means to “retire.” Not from work entirely - but from burnout, over-giving, and patterns that no longer serve us. What if retirement was about redefining success, protecting your wellbeing, and choosing sustainable impact over self-sacrifice?
The one about the new email address…
There’s a new website, a new email address, and some exciting changes happening behind the scenes! As I reflect on nearly four years in business - supporting around 70 organisations and hundreds of staff - I’m incredibly grateful for every referral and repeat booking. Looking ahead to 2025, my work is evolving beyond training into burnout recovery, wellbeing coaching and retreats, creating space for women ready to prioritise themselves and make meaningful life changes.
Let’s talk about Moral Injury
Working in caring professions can be deeply rewarding — but it can also come with ethical tensions that are rarely talked about. Let’s explore moral injury: the psychological distress that arises when our values clash with the realities of policy, limited resources, and systemic constraints. From frontline services to leadership roles, understanding moral injury is essential if we want to protect staff wellbeing, reduce burnout, and create healthier, more compassionate workplaces.
The straw that breaks the camel’s back?
Micro stresses, the small, everyday tensions we brush off, can quietly accumulate and take a serious toll on our nervous system. Let’s explore how these subtle stressors build up, and share simple, practical ways to manage them before they lead to burnout.
The one about stress….
Stress doesn’t have to be tackled all at once. In this Stress Awareness Month reflection, let’s explore how small, consistent habits, from mindful mornings to simple daily rituals, can quietly transform our stress levels “little by little.”
The one about resilience…..
Resilience isn’t something we’re born with - it’s a mindset we can nurture. Let’s explore how self-awareness, self-compassion and small daily choices help us build resilience, especially on the days when we feel far from invincible.
Unveiling the True Cost of Skipping Lunch Breaks
If you’re working through your lunch break, you might be donating more money to your employer than you realise. Here’s what those missed breaks are really costing you - financially and mentally.
