The one about resilience…..

In this beautiful journey of life, we encounter numerous obstacles, setbacks, and challenges. How we respond to these adversities often determines our ability to thrive amidst (or after!) the storm. At the heart of this, of course, is resilience.  Despite how it may seem sometimes, resilience is not an innate trait but is in fact a state of mind that can be nurtured and developed by anyone.

Resilience is a skill that can be learned and practiced. Each day presents us with opportunities to strengthen our resilience muscles, to build our capacity to adapt, and to face life's curveballs with grace and fortitude.

And there will be days when we feel invincible, effortlessly navigating through challenges, but there will also be days when a single setback can shake us to our core. That’s the human experience! It's during these moments of difficulty that we get to practice our skills though – if we can acknowledge our emotions, accept our limitations, and be compassionate towards ourselves.

Self-awareness plays a HUGE role in this journey towards resilience. By tuning into our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, we gain valuable insights. We learn to recognise the warning signs of burnout, stress, or overwhelm, allowing us to take action before they spiral. Self-awareness empowers us to assess our needs, set boundaries, and prioritise self-care, even amidst life's chaos.

Resilience is about embracing the ebb and flow of life's challenges, knowing that each obstacle is an opportunity for learning and personal development. Resilience isn’t a constant state and I think it’s really helpful to remember that, and be kind to ourselves when we’re struggling.

Something that’s really helped me recently has been asking myself how I would treat a friend if they were tired, or stressed, or broken-hearted. It’s really helped me “practice what I preach” and actually be nice to myself if I have been feeling any of those things. It’s such a simple and obvious thing to do, but treating myself how I’d treat a friend hasn't always been my first move! I have often been really hard on myself.

So today, I’d just love for you to do something kind for yourself, treat yourself as you would treat a dear friend.

What might that look like?
